Iguazu Falls

Boats
We did go on one of these boats that takes you right underneath the falls (and got quite wet), but for obvious reasons the camera was packed away beforehand.

Blue butterfly
There were a lot of really beautiful butterflies. One of the park rangers told us that there were around 2,000 species in the area. From what I saw, I could easily believe that number.

The 88 butterfly
This 88 butterfly (genus Diaethria) was the only one I easily recognized.

La Garganta del Diablo
The largest individual waterfall at the park is 270 feet (82 m) high and 490 feet (150 m) wide. It’s named “La Garganta del Diablo,” (The Throat of the Devil) which I think you’ll agree is a pretty kickass name for a waterfall.

Closeup
It’s very hard to get a shot that really conveys how large it is, but I thought the detail came out nicely in this one.

Downriver
Looking downriver from La Garganta del Diablo is spectacular as well. It looks like something from a movie (and in fact, the falls have appeared in several films). In this photo, the left bank is Argentina, and the right side is Brazil.

For my money the Benet cross shirt is the best damn thing in any of those photos. Not that the waterfalls aren’t spectacular, but you can’t underrate the beauty of a Benet cross shirt

Corcoran’s kind of right, way to represent! ( I do my best- but Benet CC shirts are hard to beat) But yeah, the falls look amazing.

Haha, that shirt is pretty much my go-to for situations where I don’t want to risk ruining a nicer one. But yes, Benet CC represent!

There were two Benet CC shirts later that day; I borrowed a spare as I was baking up in my own tent-like garb. I had been earnestly informed that it was vital to wear long legged/sleeved clothing for fear of mosquitoes carrying yellow or dengue fever. For the duration of the morning, I tutted at our fellow hotpant- and tanktop-clad fallgoers, soon to be struck down by organ-rotting tropical diseases; by lunchtime, I surrendered, and switched shirts to the Benet one. Funnily enough, I seem to have developed a headache, a sore throat and possibly a slight temperature today. Hm.
