So today has the potential to be the best day ever. I rode a camel, I made a useful contact for my project, I met some kids from the international students’ organization here who invited me to come to some of their events, and I just got an email from the Watson Foundation that they’re granting an additional $3,000 in response to the plummeting value of the US dollar.
I’ll post more details later, but right now I have to go eat pancakes with a Dutch guy and an American girl who’s working here as an au pair.
In the meantime, here is me on a camel:
That is so cool! Not many can say they’ve been on or even near a camel. (:
Lol! How in the world did you find a camel to ride there?? Traveling circus? The camel looks a bit sad though…
It’s funny you mention money because the other day I was talking to someone about international travel and how the US dollar isn’t worth shit anymore and I thought about you, your grant, and the fact that you’re going to be abroad for such a long period of time. I wondered if they’d increased the grant amount at all and was going to ask, but now there’s no need because I know they did! (Or at least they gave you more if not officially raising the grant amount.)
Billy Corgan clearly disagrees: with your “best day ever” comment:

Did you steal an ice cream truck and watch couples making out on hillsides? I didn’t think so.
